Cause We Care attends inner city school’s appreciation tea….

Grandview ¿uuqinak'uuh Elementary, one of our recipient schools for hampers and school supplies, held an appreciation tea yesterday. One of our directors attended; this is what she had to say. “On behalf of CWCF, I was the lucky guest yesterday afternoon at the Grandview ¿uuqinak'uuh Elementary Community Partner’s Appreciation Tea in their school library. There were tablecloths on the tables, a selection of treats, even delicious meringues handmade by one of the teachers and the children sang for us! I sat with Jason, from Boys & Girls Club of Greater Vancouver – their involvement is via the Vision 180 after school program for grades 3-7. Also sitting with us were three dedicated women who come and read to the students each week – priceless time for the kids. Twelve kindergarten students sang first, led by the Youth Social Worker who comes once a week to the classrooms. Singing is one of the best ways to calm the children. We had songbooks and sang along with the kids – they were so shy at first and so proud at the end, as we clapped and cheered. The older kids followed and sang– Let It Be -their favorite song and the finale at their request. It was obvious to us all, the Youth Worker is fully engaged with all the kids and they with him. As an audience, we couldn’t have had bigger smiles - the positive impact this group of teachers/helpers was having on these children is distinct, enormous and life changing.”
