[box type="shadow"]‘ A heartfelt thank you for Cause We Care

I wanted to write a note of thanks to Cause We Care. As you know, I received a hamper and, well. I hardly know what to say. Thank you doesn't seem to suffice.

I needed the help. As is the case for so many, I never, EVER, envisioned myself in these kinds of circumstances. Somehow I must have thought that being educated, employed, and in a long-term relationship would shield me from this depth of challenge but I was wrong. The sudden end of my relationship (and with it: my employment but more significantly: co-parenting my infant daughter) sent my entire world -- and perception of self -- into a tailspin.

In years to come, I will remember many things about these challenging times but what is affecting me the most, what I will remember most, what I must honour, most, is the care. I was not prepared for this life-change but I was equally unprepared for the degree of CARE that is out there. Even as I prepared Christmas Hampers for years, and donated to charities and participated in the world, I just had no idea at all of the degree of impact CARE can have. I suppose I knew it, but it's the DEGREE. The degree to which I can feel the care that went into the selection of everything in the hamper; the care taken as the hampers were assembled. I weep as I type this. I hope it's possible to communicate to the Good People at Cause We Care that their care, of me, of my little daughter, has instilled hope, lifted my spirit, and renewed my determination to make a difference. I want these folks to know that they've made a difference, to me. My heart has felt their warmth, and that our bellies are fuller is a blessing but the lasting gift is that we mattered to someone. Someone who doesn't even know us, but knows we're out there, and it matters that we are in need. I can't tell you what it means to me that my daughter and I matter to you.

I wish all the love in the world to these thoughtful, loving people -- and to you and everyone at the YWCA who've rallied around us and have made all the difference.

[box type="shadow"]‘ Dear: Cause We Care Foundation,

I'd like to send out a heartfelt "thank you" for the lovely Christmas Hamper you kindly put together for me and my two year old daughter, Zaeda. I am so grateful and thankful, because your kindness and caring really make me happy, especially at this time of year. People like you make such a positive difference for single moms like myself. There were great items in the hamper that my daughter and I will surely use, so thank you! Wishing you a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year!
