CWCF donates to Thunderbird Elementary's After School Program

Thunderbird Elementary is an inner-city school in one of Vancouver's poorest neighbourhoods. It is across the street from one of the largest social housing projects in the province. The school runs an after school program put together by an incredible group of teachers, yet on a shoestring budget, so that the most vulnerable kids stay somewhere safe when school let's out at 3pm. Currently, 70 children are identified by teachers as needing this program but only 20 can be currently accommodated.Roughly 60-70% of these at-risk kids come from single mother homes. One of the biggest problems a single mother deals with is childcare so she can maintain a job. Cause We Care has donated funding to add another 10 children to the after school program for the remainder of the school year. These kids will have a safe place to be, a nutritious snack and educational activities to take part in.

Thanks to our donors, we were able to make this donation. We would like to do more. Please consider donating and help fund important initiatives like this, helping the most vulnerable in our community.
