Andrea Thomas Hill
Founder and Chair
Andrea Thomas Hill moved to Vancouver from Toronto in 1999. She has 20 years of experience in marketing communications, both in advertising agencies and for corporate clients. In 1992, Andrea organized the first Run For The Cure for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. After expanding the Run For The Cure across the country, Andrea later sat on the Board of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, BC Chapter for several years before shifting her attention to single mothers and children living in poverty in Vancouver. Andrea is married and a mother of two children.
Tia Walsh is a Chartered Accountant with a Masters degree in accounting. She brings to our Board financial and accounting expertise derived from her 18 years in the accounting profession. Tia is a Partner at Walsh King LLP and has extensive expertise in working and volunteering with not-for-profit organizations. She recently finished a 6-year term as treasurer and director of the Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver. As a single professional woman with two children Tia is committed to the goals of Cause We Care.
Secretary and Outreach Services
Michelle Jankovich has spent over 25 years working in finance, currently managing the Equity Capital Markets division for Haywood Securities Inc. She firmly believes that by addressing the systemic issues and challenges faced by women and children living in poverty in Vancouver, our own communities can provide hope to further positive change. Michelle has volunteered with a variety of local organizations. She is the mother of two teenage children.
Tanis Goldman brings marketing and development strategy expertise to bear on issues of Cause We Care’s community outreach and fundraising efforts. A lifelong believer in community participation, Tanis has volunteered with a number of charitable organizations. Her passion for women’s and children’s rights drive her commitment to Cause We Care, where she manages CWCF’s three annual supply drives. Tanis is married and has one child.
Vandana Varshney Lecky
Vandana Varshney Lecky was born and raised in Vancouver. Upon obtaining her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia, Vandana worked as a Senior Investment Advisor at Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management for 19 years. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Governors of York House School. She previously served on the Board of Endeavour Society for the Benefit of the Arts, Sciences and Health, and was also a member of the 2008 Arts Umbrella Gala committee. Vandana has been providing her fundraising expertise to Cause We Care Foundation since 2009. She is married with three children and is committed to service and giving back to the community in which she lives.
Cindy Beedie grew up in Coquitlam and studied Political Science at SFU, where she met Ryan Beedie. They married 25 years ago and moved to West Vancouver, where Cindy raised her three children, as a full-time mom. Cindy worked in real estate development between 2006-2008 before she became more involved in charitable giving. Cindy also sits on the board and committees for a variety of other charities including, BC Children's Hospital Foundation's Crystal Ball. Cindy and Ryan have been supporters of Cause We Care for many years and Beedie Development Group has sponsored past Cause We Care Foundations events.
Annabel Hawksworth founded Vancouver-based Hawksworth Communications in 2006. Launching her career in London, UK, Annabel moved to Vancouver in 2000, where she completed a six-year tenure as Communications Director with BC’s leading Top Table Restaurant Group. Annabel now heads up one of the most respected PR firms in the city. Annabel is honoured to join the board of Cause We Care and to support such a valid and meaningful cause that resonates with so many mothers from all walks of life. There’s a lot to be said for the old saying “it takes a village to raise a child” and Cause We Care helps improve the lives of many living in our community.
Naudia Maché graduated from Ryerson University earning a BAAID and has extensive expertise in the area of interior design and residential project management. Her support of programs and initiatives to help women and children in our community is widespread. Naudia is an advocate of charities, which empower women to rebuild their lives. She is a generous supporter of a variety of charitable institutions both locally and abroad. Naudia is married and a mother of two children.
Lisa Skakun brings 15 years of legal and corporate governance experience to Cause We Care. She has a law degree, a Master of Laws degree in business law and is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors Director Education Program. A strong advocate of giving of your time, skills and energy, Lisa has volunteered for many charitable organizations, co-chaired the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s “judy&company Leader’s Cabinet” and currently sits on the Board of Governors for Kwantlen Polytechnic University. She is honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to an organization aimed at directly impacting and improving the lives of woman and children living in poverty. Lisa is married and a stepmother to two teenage boys.
